Myofascial Release for Vertigo / Dizziness
Vertigo and dizziness are often complaints of those suffering from various kinds of pains or can stand as complaints in and of themselves. Unlike pain which can be treated with a variety of methods, dizziness is harder to deal with and can be mistreated by having changes in diet or by using drugs, which may not fix anything for the suffering patient.
While myofascial release is not commonly used to get rid of vertigo and dizziness, it can be used to lessen these problems by targeting the muscles and fascia structural damage that can lead to dizziness and vertigo in patients suffering from these ailments. It can be used to solve issues with soft muscle trigger points and imbalances in the neck and head which, barring any other problems that would contribute to dizziness such as drug abuse and overuse, can work towards getting rid of vertigo altogether. More often it is best used as a side effect of pain release as pain can cause its own kind of dizziness in those living with it for a long time. Myofascial release relieves that kind of dizziness as it relieves pain.
Dizziness and vertigo can also be caused by weariness brought on by muscle pain and myofascial release can deal with that too by sorting out the pain and the dizziness vanishes with it. It’s a bit harder to use myofascial release to get rid of stand alone dizziness because there are so many outside factors that could be causing it, but it can be effective under the right set of circumstances.
