Benefits of Myofascial Release for Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain, chronic or otherwise, is common complaint for many people and it’s something that can be difficult to deal with as the symptoms of the pain are often unknown or there are multiple reasons for it. However, there is hope out there for those suffering from this often debilitating type of pain: my0fascial release therapy.

Myofascial release therapy is highly beneficial to those suffering with lower back pain because it gets to the root of all pain: tension and straining in the fascia. In lower back pain, dealing with the strain of the fascia will also get rid of other pains associated with back pain, such as neck pain and leg pain, meaning that multiple pain sites will be dealt with at once instead of separately which is often the case in more traditional therapies.

Myofascial release is also beneficial because the treatment is usually quick-under an hour-and only has to be done a few times a week for often a short period of time, unless the pain has been long term and chronic, and even in this case, it often only takes a few months for the sufferer to have an end to pain. In the case of lower back pain, the sheer speed alone of relief is reason enough to try this form of physiotherapy as lower back pain is very debilitating and often forces people out of the workplace and into becoming virtual prisoners in their own home.

Myofascial release also removes the necessity of drugs to deal with the pain as it is quickly effective, only taking up to a day in some cases for overall relief to be felt, and usually felt soon after leaving the clinic. This means that patients save money and don’t have to worry about having an adverse reaction to something that was supposed to help. Myofascial release is just as effective as things like acupuncture for patients in relieving chronic back pain and requires fewer tools and thus is more affordable and easier on both the patient and the therapist.

Like any treatment, myofascial is not for everyone and anyone looking at this as a form of treatment for lower back pain should consult their regular physician and go over the benefits and any possible side effects. However, if you feel this is the treatment option for you, it is a great way to quickly and comfortably get rid of the worst of your lower back pains.
